Let's 1st understand what these planets represent on their own?

 

Mercury - Mercury represents communication skills, marketing, calculative ability, younger siblings, hobbies, skills with hands, intelligence, quick decision making, logical thinking, youthfulness etc.

 

Ketu - Just like Rahu, Ketu also represents Illusion as both are illusionary planets but the difference is that Ketu is also the one who removes the illusion and brings enlightenment. Besides this, Ketu represents Isolation, Separation, Spirituality, Mystical World, Other Dimension means things related to Alien World, also represents Son, Dog, Intuition, Research Ability, Curious Nature, things which we have already achieved in past life and not much concerned to perform in this life. 

 

House Ruler - Besides these karaka things, Mercury & Ketu will also rule some houses in your chart and will represent things related to that house. Of course we can't cover conjunctions Ascendant and house wise else it will never be over. So, you have to include those things at the time of interpreting this conjunction. Also, we need to keep in mind all Yogas and Raj-Yogas which their conjunction would be making to completely understand the conjunction. Here, we can only cover meaning as per karakas. 

 

Meaning of Mercury-Ketu Conjunction - This is one conjunction which can work in different ways at same time. Mercury is Communication and Ketu is Research, so they will research, investigate & think a lot before they speak or write. They can be extremely research oriented & curious and would keep a lot of information. At the same time, Ketu brings isolation, so they may not like to speak a lot. They will prefer writing. Also, in early life, their communications can be directionless which may make them work a lot on their communications. It also gives a natural isolation from siblings. So, either they are physically separated from their sibling or they will have almost opposite point of view on all matters of life. Mercury also represents our nervous system and Ketu is a natural malefic. So, they can have some diseases related to nervous system. It can also lead to allergies and other skin diseases. Likewise, their decision making skills can suffer and they won't be able to judge anything/anyone well enough. It leads to many wrong decisions in life. At the same time, it makes person collect info about occult, mysticism and spiritual side of life. Their way of communication can be very spiritual too. Overall, this conjunction can help when someone is in research field and want to collect more and more info. 

 

Who will win the Conjunction? - Ketu will. Mercury is a neutral planet. It changes itself as per the planet it sits with. So, here communications will be highly impacted by Ketu's presence. 

 

Dignity & Strength - 

 

This conjunction will help in gaining information related with the sign it is placed in. Also, Dignity of conjunction will largely depend on dignity of Mercury as then Ketu will make person work on those qualities of Mercury.

In Taurus, Gemini, Virgo & Libra this conjunction will do well as Mercury is in friendly/own/exalted signs. Ketu will make person work on those good qualities of Mercury & signs involved. 

 

In Scorpio, Sagittarius and Pisces, this conjunction can make someone very much into occult/knowledge/spiritual aspect of living. 

 

In Cancer, person can research about health care. 

 

In Leo, he can be researching into creative domain. 

 

In Capricorn, about Govt & Law and in Aquarius, can be in research field in MNC.
