Interpretation of Planetary Position
There was a request to write about how a planet will behave in a specific dignity in various houses. Like, how exalted Sun in 1st house is different from exalted Sun in 4th house or likewise for different planets in different dignities in different houses?
I guess writing a series of article on this point for every planet in every sign/house for every ascendant will take a huge time and series would be of at least 1500 articles. Anyways, I don’t write any series of articles now. So, I will write about the rules we can follow to understand this concept.

Let’s understand it –
House – House is “Where” a particular event is taking place.
Sign – Sign shows “What” events are taking place.
Planet – Planet represents “Who” is bringing that event.
Dignity – Finally, Dignity of Planet represents “How” the event is taking place.
If we understand this simple rule then we can interpret any planetary position. Now, let’s apply this rule on a few examples –
1. Exalted Sun in 2nd house/Aries
2nd house is family, speech and wealth. 2nd house would represent the place where event is taking place.
Aries is sign of action, aggression and individuality. Aries would represent the nature or kind of events that are taking place in 2nd house of family, speech and wealth.
Sun represents Father, Authority and Fire/Heat. Sun would represent who will be taking action in 2nd house of family and what type of events can come up as per Aries nature.
Finally, as Sun is exalted, we can expect most of the events of this planetary position as auspicious one.
End Result – It can bring results as follows –
Father can be central or authoritative figure in family. Person will financially benefit from Father but family environment can be aggressive and ego clashes can be there, , especially while growing up. At the same time, person can gain from government or other authority positions in life. Person can have an aggressive or fiery way of communication.
Obviously, there will be many other results as per house rulership, aspect, nakshatra and conjunctions but this is what we can expect in generic way.
2. Now, let’s say exalted Sun is in 4th house/Aries
4th house is home, home land and mother. 4th house would represent the place where event is taking place.
Aries is sign of action, aggression and individuality. Aries would represent the nature or kind of events that are taking place in 4th house of home, home land and mother.
Sun represents Father, Authority and Fire/Heat. Sun would represent who will be taking action in 4th house of home, home land, mother and what type of events can come up as per Aries nature.
Finally, as Sun is exalted, we can expect most of the events of this planetary position as auspicious one.
End Result – It can bring results as follows –
In this case, home environment can be aggressive or fiery, especially while growing up. Person can gain a lot from real estate matters and can gain authority in home land. But as Sun loses the directional strength in 4th house, person can feel absence of Father and Mother can be performing the role of Father. In this case, Mother can be the authoritative figure in family.
Again, there will be many other results as per house rulership, aspect, nakshatra and conjunctions but this is what we can expect in generic way.
3. Let’s take another example of Mars in 5th house/Cancer.
5th house is love, romance, sports and education. 5th house would represent the place where event is taking place.
Cancer is sign of emotions and nourishing others. Cancer would represent the nature or kind of events that are taking place in 5th house related things.
Mars represents efforts, actions, aggression, dominance and control etc. Mars would represent who will be taking action in 5th house related things and what type of events can come up as per Cancer nature.
Finally, as Mars is debilitated, we can expect most of the events of this planetary position as difficult one.
End Result – It can bring results as follows –
This can be a person who is very dominant and controlling or insecure in relationship matters and towards partner. They can be triggered easily emotionally. As Mars is debilitated, actions may not be highly dignified here due to aggression or emotional manipulation.
Again, there will be many other results as per house rulership, aspect, nakshatra and conjunctions but this is what we can expect in generic way.
4. Final example of Mars in 5th house/Capricorn.
5th house is love, romance, sports and education. 5th house would represent the place where event is taking place.
Capricorn is sign of law, authority and hard work. Capricorn would represent the nature or kind of events that are taking place in 5th house related things.
Mars represents efforts, actions, aggression, dominance and control etc. Mars would represent who will be taking action in 5th house related things and what type of events can come up as per Cancer nature.
Finally, as Mars is exalted, we can expect most of the events of this planetary position as auspicious one.
End Result – It can bring results as follows –
Now, as Mars is exalted, person can be protective towards their relationship partner. They will be very practical and realistic with their actions and efforts. They can be very competitive in matters of sports and education.
We can see that with change of dignity of Mars, lots of things are changing in result as this person’s actions are more dignified. He won’t be emotionally triggered into doing anything rather he will be taking more dignified and balanced actions.
