Adhi Yoga

There was a request to write about Adhi Yoga and its results. So, let’s understand Adhi Yoga today –

The word “Adhi” is the root word of the words like “Adhikar” or “Adhipati”. As these words are related with Authority or High Positions, Adhi Yoga can be termed as the combination of planets which can bring Authority or High Positions to the person.

Now, let’s see how Adhi Yoga is formed?

There are many different types of Adhi Yogas which are popular or recognized. We will understand all of them. Let’s begin with the most ancient definition of this Yoga.

Adhi Yoga – Whenever a native has three natural benefic planets; i.e. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus, placed in 6th house, 7th house and 8th house from Moon’s position then it is called Adhi Yoga. Proviso is that these three malefic planets should not be aspected or conjunct by any malefic planet.

Result is that this person will get high authority and recognition in this life. He will be like a King.

But we can see that this definition or condition placed herein is very restrictive. Only a few people in millions will have such planetary position in their birth chart where Mercury, Jupiter and Venus are placed in 6th house, 7th house and 8th house from Moon’s position and still not get any type of impact (neither conjunct nor aspect) from any of malefic planet. And we can also understand that because there can be only one King-like person among millions. So, as per my understanding, this definition is perfect. I would just add that if all these planets (Moon, Jupiter, Mercury and Venus) are also in good dignity then there is a huge chance to gain such an authority and recognition.

For example – Let’s say Moon is in own sign Cancer and Jupiter is in 6th house/Sagittarius, Venus is in 7th house/Capricorn and Mercury is in 8th house/Aquarius from Moon without any malefic impact then this is 100% powerful Adhi Yoga which would give results whenever these planets get active during dasha and transits.

But as we can see that this is a very restrictive definition, other Adhi Yogas are also there which are nothing but off-spring of this main Adhi Yoga only where the definition was given a mild or inclusive look. So, these other Adhi Yogas are –

a. Whenever a native has three natural benefic planets; i.e. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus, placed in 6th house, 7th house and 8th house from Ascendant or from Moon’s position then it is called Adhi Yoga.

b. Whenever a native has three natural benefic planets; i.e. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus, placed in 6th house from Ascendant or from Moon’s position then it is called Adhi Yoga.

c. Whenever a native has three natural benefic planets; i.e. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus, placed in 7th house from Ascendant or from Moon’s position then it is called Adhi Yoga.

d. Whenever a native has three natural benefic planets; i.e. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus, placed in 8th house from Ascendant or from Moon’s position then it is called Adhi Yoga.

e. Whenever a native has three natural benefic planets; i.e. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus, placed in 6th house and 7th house from Ascendant or from Moon’s position then it is called Adhi Yoga.

f. Whenever a native has three natural benefic planets; i.e. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus, placed in 6th house and 8th house from Ascendant or from Moon’s position then it is called Adhi Yoga.

g. Whenever a native has three natural benefic planets; i.e. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus, placed in 7th house and 8th house from Ascendant or from Moon’s position then it is called Adhi Yoga.

As we can see, these definitions are very broad and inclusive. Not only are these definitions considering positions from Moon but from Ascendant also. This itself makes many other people to fall inside these definitions. Then it also relieves the strict condition of involvement of all 3 houses as necessary. Moreover, there are no mentions of impact of malefic planets.

Hence, many more people can fall inside these definitions. This is where we see people becoming Managers, Senior Managers, CEOs or VPs of Companies or Corporations etc. They are Kings or King-likes in their area of work.

But if you are looking for the pure 100% powerful Adhi Yoga then you need to look at the original definition and planetary placements in your chart as per that definition.

Results – Finally, is it the case that anyone who is born with such planetary placements will automatically become a high authority in his field?

Well, nothing happens automatically just because of planetary positions. 1000s of children take birth in one minute with exactly identical planetary position from ascendant or from Moon but they all don’t achieve exactly identical positions in life. Even twins don’t live identical life. As I said before, everyone born along with Gautama Buddha didn’t become Gautama Budhha and everyone born along with Ted Bundy didn’t become Ted Bundy. So, it all depends on the individual as to where he redirects his energy, time and efforts, he will get authority in that area of life. Another thing to remember here is that all these planets (Moon, Jupiter, Mercury and Venus) are education, guiding and counselling oriented. Also, 7th house and 8th house are other people/masses related houses. So, the more they share their knowledge with masses, the better authority they may get.

Last but not the least, benefic planets falling in Dushthana Houses (6th house/8th house) show that person either benefits from his obstacles/changes or he is able to avoid obstacles/changes. This again means that he is able to redirect his time and energy in some beneficial pursuits rather than wasting his time and energy in conflicts and disputes. At the end of the day, we have only 24 hours in a day. It is our wish if we want to utilize them in something productive/creative or we want to waste the same 24 hours in arguing/conflicting/fighting with others.

Hope this helps. Thanks,
