Chart of Elizabeth Smart – Role of Chiron in Astrology

Chart of Elizabeth Smart – Role of Chiron in Astrology

Let’s look at life of an interesting person with equally interesting concept of Chiron. Let’s cover the Chart of Elizabeth Smart through following points –

Introduction - Elizabeth Smart (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Smart) is a Child Safety Activist from USA. She first became a known figure when at the age of 14, she was abducted from her home. She was rescued by Police from her captors after nine months. This event changed her life forever and she became vocal on the issues of Child Safety and Child Rights. This is something which makes her life and chart ideal for understanding this concept of Astrology named Chiron.

Introduction of Chart – As per online information available, Elizabeth Smart was born on 3rd Nov, 1987 at 13.03 pm at Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. She is Capricorn ascendant with Rahu-Moon-Jupiter in 3rd house/Pisces, Mars-Ketu in 9th house/Virgo, Sun-Mercury in 10th house/Libra and Venus-Saturn in 11th house/Scorpio.

Concept of Chiron – Chiron and Lilith are two popularly used concepts of Western Astrology. Chiron is understood as “The Wounded Healer”. It means that Chiron is something where you had the biggest pain and suffering of your life but it is also where you help others and people feel that you are champion of that cause. Still underneath, you are still most vulnerable about that suffering. Like, Elizabeth Smart became Child Safety Activist. Why? Because she had to go through unimaginable suffering, trauma and sexual abuse from her captor when she was a child. So now, she is raising the voice for those vulnerable children who can’t raise their own voice. It is like having a feeling of “Shared Pain”.

How to find Chiron? – Vedic Astrology Softwares rarely give information of Chiron. We need to make chart at any Western Astrology Site or Software. There you will find Chiron’s position. Now, take that Chiron position in Western Astrology chart and substract it by 23 degree. This will give you position of Chiron in your Vedic Astrology chart. For example, Western Astrology chart shows my Chiron at 3 degree Taurus. So, I just need to substract 23 degrees from 3 degree Taurus and I will get my Chiron at 10 degree Aries in 6th house as I am a Scorpio ascendant.

Why 23 degree? Because that is the basic difference of degrees in calculations between Western Astrology and Vedic Astrology.

Chiron of Elizabeth Smart – As per Vedic Astrology chart, her Chiron is falling in 3rd house/Pisces where she has Rahu-Jupiter-Moon. Let’s understand this –

3rd house – It is house of efforts, actions and communication. Hence, it also becomes the house of activism or advocating a cause.

Jupiter – Jupiter is a natural guide or teacher. It also represents written Law.

Moon – Moon and Jupiter both are Children related planets.

Rahu – Rahu in 3rd house/Pisces with another expansive planet Jupiter makes her extra courageous and vocal about the causes of others in similar situation like hers.

Rahu also represents illusion, shadow or hiding something. So, her main focus of activism became safety of those children who are abducted from their families.

Like this, Chiron makes our biggest suffering as our biggest strength but underneath it we are always most vulnerable about it. Others’ suffering just reminds us of our own pain and by healing others, we are actually healing ourselves.

Other Examples – There are few other similar examples of people about whom I wanted to write but their birth details were not available. Still, their names must be mentioned here to make us realize that our biggest suffering can become our biggest strength –

Raphael Rowe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raphael_Rowe) – Raphael Rowe is a British broadcast journalist and presenter, who was wrongfully-convicted in 1990 for the 1988 murder and series of aggravated robberies. After approximately twelve years incarcerated, having always maintained his innocence, his convictions along with his two co-defendants, Michael George Davis and Randolph Egbert Johnson, were ruled "unsafe" in July 2000 and they were released. After release from Prison, Raphael now makes documentaries on Prison situations in some of the world’s toughest prisons.

Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Georgina "Gina" DeJesus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ariel_Castro_kidnappings) – These 3 girls were kidnapped by a man named Ariel Castro and kept hostage for over a decade. Now, they are working to create awareness over child safety.

Conclusion – I hope this first small attempt of mine to explain a non-Vedic concept has gone well. Let knowledge flow from any direction. Next time, I will try to write about Lilith.

Hope this helps. Thanks,
